The history of the firm is as follows:

  • 1912

    Firm established by George G. Albery

  • 1936

    George Albery forms partnership with Colin Bennett

  • 1949

    Colin Bennett forms partnership with J. Ian McKay

  • 1957

    Colin Bennett becomes Chief Judge of the County and District Courts for Ontario and Ian McKay continues as sole practitioner until 1964

  • 1964

    Grant Scheifele and Ian McKay form the partnership known as McKay and Scheifele

  • 1982

    Ian McKay is appointed a Judge of the County Court of the County of Bruce and later becomes a Judge of the Superior Court of Ontario

  • 1982

    Grant Scheifele and Joe Erskine form a partnership

  • 1988

    Brian Renken joins the partnership and the firm becomes Scheifele, Erskine & Renken
